Graduate recruitment

As the UK's leading rural estate manager, Smiths Gore regularly recruits graduates from leading universities in its field.

Our graduate programme is based around the RICS APC and our results speak for themselves with a high pass rate year on year. Many graduates also go on to take their CAAV exams as well.

Graduates can expect to be mentored from the outset but will equally be given a level of responsibility commensurate with their ability from the day they arrive. We believe that first hand experience is the best means of ensuring success at the APC. We are proud of our very high success rate and are confident that this is both due to the breadth of experience made available and to the well-established structured training plan that each graduate follows. This includes APC group training days held twice each year.

It is important to note that our aim is not just to get you through the APC but to open up lasting opportunities for you with the firm and as such our recruitment process is designed not only for us to assess your ability and compatibility with our business but also seeks to determine those who have the potential to thrive and grow within the business in the future. It equally gives you the opportunity to find out more about us as recruitment is of course a two way process.

The process

The process starts with Presentations that we make during November at each of the principle providers of Graduate Recruits. Applications are sought at that time and lead to a short-listing for first interview in early January. This is followed swiftly by a second interview and a job offer to those that are successful. We seek to make the process as short and painless as possible.

Dates for our presentations will be published on this page well in advance together with information on how to apply for a position.

Work experience

With offices throughout the UK we are ideally placed to take students on work experience when you will be given the opportunity to shadow and assist one of our experienced surveyors. This is an ideal way of understanding more about the profession and the firm and of starting your association with Smiths Gore before you are involved in the graduate recruitment process.

It is important to have had some office experience before you graduate. To apply for a work experience placement please contact our HR department using the contact pane on the right of this page.
