Community Infrastructure Levy Questionnaire

The Community Infrastructure Levy ('CIL') is a new charge which local authorities in England and Wales will be empowered, but not required, to charge on most types of new development in their areas. It will apply to agricultural and rural business diversification developments and will be introduced from 6 April.

The Estates Business Group, Country Land and Business Association and Smiths Gore are gathering evidence on the effect that the CIL might have on rural developments. We believe, in many cases, if the CIL is applied, it will business unit conversions non-viable.

We would be grateful for your views and we have attached a questionnaire. Your response will be treated in the strictest confidence.
